Challenge

A leading Non-Emergency Medical Transportation (NEMT) brokerage faced a critical challenge: to develop a web-based marketplace for transportation providers to view and accept rides. This initiative was driven by the need to 1) reduce manual ride assignment and related operational costs, 2) reduce excessive transportation purchase costs, and 3) a contractual obligation with a key customer which aimed to streamline operations across their extensive network.

Solution

In a remarkably short three-month timeframe, we designed and oversaw the development of a comprehensive web application centered on a marketplace feature for transportation providers.

This digital hub incorporated:

  • A dynamic marketplace for trip viewing and acceptance
  • Advanced provider self-service tools, including performance scorecards and profile management
  • Granular administrative controls for each state
  • Seamless integration with existing systems

The application evolved into a central platform for managing relationships with transportation providers, significantly enhancing operational efficiency.

Implementation

The rollout strategy was executed in phases:

  1. Initial deployment to a single state to meet immediate contractual requirements
  2. Rapid expansion to all 50 states, demonstrating scalability and adaptability
  3. Continuous enhancement of capabilities, including the integration of single sign-on, billing functionalities, and support ticketing systems

Results

The implementation of the Transportation Provider Marketplace yielded impressive outcomes.
